Message from the President

photoAs the President of the National Dance Teachers Council, NDTC, I am very pleased to welcome you to our Internet Web Site. NDTC is the authorized governing body of professional ballroom dancing and/or dancesport in the country.

NDTC today has 3 Full Member Associations and 6 Affiliate Member Associations in the country. Each association covers different aspects in dancing including Dance Teachers, Examiners, Scrutineers, Adjudicators, Competitors , Artists and Performers, Coaches, Amateur Competitors and Medallists, Certified Social Dance Instructors, and others.

NDTC received full recognition in 2007 from the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) and is a Member of the following International Federations:

  1. WDC - World Dance Council - contract with membership in process
  2. IDO - International Dance Organization
  3. APDDSC – Asia Pacific Dance and Dance Sport Council - membership in process

Following GAB recognition, NDTC continues to work for professional ballroom dancing and Dance Sport as a professional sport in the Country, and protect the interest of the professionals and spectators. Dance sport can help in democratization of sports, providing access to all Filipinos regardless of age, gender, practical belief, ideology and economic status and an avenue for the inculcation and internationalization of values in sports.

The President’s Objectives
I would like to pay tribute to my well-known mentors, Marcel Derijk (Holland), Aleena Tan (Singapore), Akihiro Yokomichi (Japan), Glen Tierney (Australia) who have patiently encouraged and guided me all throughout the very long process. The Philippine Dancing World owes a lot to these icons and to their vision for our Sport.

  1. To protect and grow the livelihood of the professionals by formulating unified rules and regulations.
  2. To upgrade standardized skills, education and licensing for the goal of professionalizing the sport and profession to the highest form of standards.
  3. To ensure spectators, enthusiasts and supporters in ballroom dancing and dancesport will be provided with outstanding services and entertainment.

The Presidium and I believe that each professional dance teacher, dance instructor and competitor have the right to be included and served with equality in order for them to achieve an improved livelihood and career. We are ready to give to each member all they can need that is necessary to move forward. This is one of the ways to avoid any animosity, disruptions and discriminations.

We will remain open for friendly discussion and suggestion among each dance organization striving for a common goal, to try to find our way to a more positive Ballroom Dancing Profession.

And finally, I wish to state clearly that our dream to become one of the most promising countries internationally is now very much alive and has a determined support with the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) that has a mandated power under the Republic Of The Philippines, Office of the President.
